PEFC - A Guide For Retailers
The choices that retailers make on their customers’ behalf when sourcing paper and wood products can have a significant impact on the state of the world’s forests. As well as supplying wood-based products, forests provide a precious living resource, habitats and shelter for wildlife and play a fundamental role in climate regulation. Forests are important to people as well; an estimated 1.6 billion people around the world rely on forests for their livelihoods.
This brochure explains the PEFC programme, the use of the PEFC logo and provides tips for retailers on how they can demonstrate their support for sustainable forest management and provide their customers with assurances of responsible sourcing of wood-based products.
